CELEBRATING
FATHERHOOD
The
first Father's Day celebration held in Spokane, Washington on June
19, 1910 was thought of by Sonora Smart Dodd while listening to a
Mother's Day sermon in her church. She immediately thought of her
father who lost his wife and had to raise six children on his own.
Ms.
Dodd wanted to honor fathers like William Smart, and was able to
convince people to go to church on that day wearing roses: a red
rose to honor a living father, and a white rose to honor a deceased
one.
Since
then, Father's day is celebrated in most countries, the Philippines
included, every 3rd Sunday of June.
This
month, Fathers who have shown their dedication as responsible
providers and loving Dads can look forward to more than roses to
honor and celebrate the occasion.
To
Dads, new and experienced, here are some wonderful ways to treat
yourself this month.

3
best things about Fatherhood:
1)
Fathers not only pass on his family name and bloodline to his
children. More importantly, fathers pass down a legacy that he hopes
will be passed on to succeeding generations. Values such as hard
work, honesty, caring for others and many other ideals embraced by
fathers are lovingly passed on to their children and to their
children's children.
2)
Sharing Fatherhood with a Great Mom. Fatherhood is the other half of
the parenthood team, taking equal responsibility for the upbringing
of children. From making life-changing decisions to simply spending
quality time with the kids - like walking them to school, playing in
the yard or preparing their food. It is this special partnership that
makes fatherhood so special.
3)
Is that Fatherhood is Hard ! The greatest thing about being a Dad is
how mundane things are simply, never that mundane. Simple things
like reading a bedtime story, watching a movie or or washing the car
with your kids are always an adventure. Before being a Dad, we
always thought our lives were complete. And were we wrong about
that. Each day is waking up to a whole new and different world and
that's what makes being a father great!
